Hi, my name is Brittany. I am a mother of three beautiful children, and we are rebuilding our lives after surviving a kidnapping and extreme domestic violence.
Sixteen months ago, my ex-boyfriend kidnapped my children and me. This was not a custody dispute or misunderstanding — it was intentional and planned. We were held against our will, and during that time, my children were terrified. I was powerless to protect them. We truly believed we might not survive.
By the grace of God and the help of law enforcement, we were found before it was too late. Our lives were saved — but the trauma did not end there.
As a result of the severe abuse, I sustained a traumatic brain injury. I remain under ongoing medical care, which has limited my ability to work. My children continue to process deep emotional trauma from what they experienced.
The legal process to bring accountability was long and emotionally exhausting. Over the past 16 months, my daughter and I had to show up and testify multiple times. We endured hearings, court appearances, and ultimately a jury trial. Reliving the trauma in a courtroom over and over again took an incredible toll on our mental and emotional health.
Recently, he was sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Although justice was served, the process of getting there required strength we didn’t know we had. Now that sentencing is complete, we finally feel safe enough to focus fully on rebuilding our lives without fear.
For safety, we were forced to leave our home and relocate away from our hometown and support system. Rebuilding does not happen overnight. Legal proceedings, medical recovery, and protecting my children have taken time.
At this time, we do not have stable housing or a reliable vehicle. The funds raised will help us with • Safe and stable housing
• Transportation needs
• Ongoing medical care for my brain injury
• Basic living expenses while I recover and care for my children
• Relocation costs as we rebuild in a secure environment
We are safe — but starting over from nothing has been overwhelming. I am doing everything I can to create stability for my children, but I cannot do this alone.
If you are able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you are unable to give, sharing our story could help us reach someone who can.
Thank you for helping us move forward toward safety, stability, and healing.
