Support Brittany's Dog Gambit's Recovery

The storm that came through Spokane on Thursday carried more than just high winds for some.

This afternoon at her home, my close friend Brittany was walking her doggos to her car on the way to take them to get a treat from the coffee stand. As they approached the car two girls with a larger, unleashed German Shepherd viciously attacked her pup, Gambit. The 2 girls just kept riding.

Brittany found herself in the terrifying position of fending off a German Shepherd with nothing more than her bare hands and a final well placed kick. Unfortunately for Gambit, the damage had already been done.

Brittany rushed him to the Animal ER right away and they were able to get him mostly patched up. Unfortunately, the damage was extensive, involving 2 deep lacerations and a shattered hip. Ultimately, this will eventually result in the amputation of one of Gambit's hind legs.

Having a furry companion is something you can prepare for. Having someone elses unleashed pet come into you yard and savagly attack your companion is something entirely different. The innitial surgery is already over $1,200 and the amputation will likely double that. Not to mention the medications, bandages, PT and time off of work that will be needed for the recovery.
