Support Brittany's Critical Health Recovery
Donation protected
Brittany has dedicated her life to helping others, spending over 10 years as a teacher in Bismarck, ND. This past summer, she embarked on a new chapter, moving to Oregon to pursue her dreams and build a fresh start. However, her journey took an unexpected and difficult turn when she became critically ill.
Her health began to decline the week of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, her new insurance plan was not set to begin until January 1st, 2025, so she tried to hold off on seeking medical care for as long as possible. However, on November 27th, her condition became critical. She was rushed to the emergency room via ambulance and admitted to the ICU, where she remained for 6 days until she was stable enough to be moved to a different room. She was hospitalized for a total of 9 days before her release.
Brittany was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and severe dehydration. On December 1st, due to dangerously low blood levels, she required an emergency blood transfusion. A feeding tube was eventually placed, and after days of intensive care, she was discharged on December 6th with a strict low-fat diet to support her pancreas' healing.
Despite these efforts, Brittany’s health continued to decline. She lost over 20 pounds in just two weeks and knew something wasn’t right. On December 18th, she returned to the hospital, where a CT scan revealed a multi-chambered pseudocyst attached to her pancreas. This large cyst was pressing against her abdominal cavity, causing excruciating pain and making it nearly impossible for her to eat.
On Christmas night, Brittany was transported from Eugene to Portland, OR, for specialized care. On December 27th, she underwent two procedures to attempt to drain the fluid from the cyst. Her recovery will require weeks of hospitalization, and an additional surgery to fully remove the cyst is still anticipated.
The financial burden has been overwhelming. With Brittany unable to work, Wendy taking time off to serve as her caretaker, mounting medical bills from several weeks of hospitalization, and the added expenses of travel and accommodations, the strain is astronomical.
We’re asking for your help during this incredibly challenging time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping Brittany and her family focus on her recovery without the crushing weight of financial stress.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity.
