Hello friends and all,
Anissa and Harley, aka Brittany's parents, here to share a bit of heartbreaking news with you. As you can see this is a GoFundMe for our beautiful daughter, Brittany. We have not shared a current medical issue that Britt has been facing. Been quiet for Brittany's benefit. But she has given permission for us to share a little of what she has been battling. And hope that this will open everyone's eyes to the unknown that could strike you at a wink of an eye.
Back in November Britt was having some pain in her abdomen. We one night in November went to the ER due to this pain that wouldn't go away. They found a 10cm ovarian cyst. Went to a specialist within the next few days that said it appears to be a cyst/growth of a basketball and surgery is needed to remove it ASAP. This was right before Thanksgiving. On December 2, 2025 she had a 6-7 hr surgery....it was not a cyst. It was a cancerous tumor bigger than a basketball. The doctor came to me (Anissa) about an hourish into her surgery to tell me it looks like cancer and they will be trying to remove it all & have it biopsy. When I tell you that was the worst day of my life. But Britt made it through the procedure. Had some organs removed and a major vein reconstructed. She was in the hospital for 7 days. With about 3 of those days in ICU.
It was found that she has a very rare genetic ovarian cancer that is not detected until stage 2 (which hers is). And that is particular genetic cancer is not found until age 24/25, Britt just turned 25 at the end of December. This gene is passed from a parent to an offspring. And there are only about 100 cases reported of this type of cancer. This is also a very aggressive cancer that grows very fast. So she is now receiving chemo. She will have 6 sessions with a 3 days each time. She is about to be on session 2. There have been some issues along the way which have put her in the hospital 2 times this month including today (2/6/26) she got released from a 3 day hospital stay. The other time was just Jan 19th. which was a 10 day stay. So it was just a 6 day of in between visits. She will have a visit weekly for now on due to the complications.
This all being said is the reason for this GoFundMe. The financial responsibilities of all the medical expenses has been quite more than expected. To give an idea of it all she maxed out her out of pocked max both for last year and this year. which comes to about $19, 500. That is not including all the meds and medical supplies she has needed. Thankfully she has medical insurance otherwise it would be so much more. As I, Anissa, am her MPOA I have to go to her appointments. I take her to all her appointments that I need to be present. So I have been on FMLA without pay. I did not have any PTO for December or January so I did not have any pay for all those visits. I did stay with her every day and night while in the hospital. And will for every chemo session. So some money that we did have saved up has had to go towards other bills.
We do not like asking for money. And if you can't help financially, no worries. But we do ask that you keep Britt in your prayers and thoughts. She has battled so much already and this is just the beginning. But she is a fighter, she is brave, she is strong and she's got this. We have already had some pretty scary stuff happen but she said nope....ain't gonna take me down without a fight!!! We are so very proud of how she is fighting this battle. Come end of May/June she is gonna ring that bell and say, "Boom Shakalaka I beat you cancer!!" .
Thanks kindly everyone for taking the time to read this and keeping her in your thoughts & prayers. God Bless !
Kindly,
Harley & Anissa
(and Brittany)
3/9/26 Hello all. Just wanted to give an update. And to of course thank each and everyone of you for sharing Britt's gofundme, donating, praying, and keeping her in your thoughts. Britt just got out of the hospital again. An issue kept landing her in the hospital that was causing her to loose blood which made her BP and heart rate lower to very critical numbers. She has had several blood and platelets transfusions & will have to continue throughout her chemo journey. Session 3 day1-3 starts tomorrow 3/10/26. Per her doc her meds have changed and dosages have changed with a game plan to keep her out of the hospital. She is doing better for now and feeling more like herself. I have already used all of my PTO and still on FMLA. I will be missing more days ahead due to she is needing care several days a week. And other doctors appointments. Please continue to share her gofundme and as always keep her in your hearts, thoughts and prayers. There is also the option of donating with Venmo or cashapp. She will ring that darn bell before too long. And Thank you for all of the texts and messages to check up on her as well as me & Harley. much love from us
