Support Brittany's Battle for Health and Stability

My name is Brittany, I’m 35 and reside in Houston, TX. For the past month and a half, I’ve been dealing with severe health problems with my lungs and a blood clot in my leg. Last month, I was hospitalized and diagnosed with severe asthma exacerbation, and almost suffocated from my own body. I was in the hospital for a week and a half, and I’ve been put on oxygen to breathe. A little before April, ending March, I was hospitalized again and had to do a bronchoscopy to see what is causing this asthma exacerbation and leaving me on oxygen. The pulmonologist found what they call a collapsed lung and a deep lung infection, but my other cultures aren’t back yet.

Regarding my blood clot, I’ve been dealing with it for almost 2 years, and I’ve had 3 failed thrombectomies to remove the clot due to the size of it. At any time, the clot can break off and travel to my lungs, brain, or heart. A different vascular surgeon wants to try again to see if they can remove the clot after my lungs are healed, per the doctor, and I’ll be down again.

Because I’ve been down a month and some change now, I haven’t been able to work, and things are becoming hard for me and my girls. I also have to pay for my copays for the doctors, I have to purchase my medications because my health insurance doesn’t cover everything, and also have to pay for my copays each month for my oxygen tanks and concentrator.

At this point, I’m not sure how long I’ll be down, or when my primary physician will release me. This has been an ongoing battle for me and my family, and it’s getting very hard financially. Anything will help us get through to the other side.
