Support Brittany McKinsey's Eye Surgery Journey

Hello, my name is Brittany, and my husband’s name is Shylo McKinsey. Since November 2024, our lives have been turned upside down as I have undergone four major emergency eye surgeries in California, far from our home in Montana.

I was born with an eye condition called Aniridia, which has required multiple surgeries throughout my early twenties in an effort to save my eyesight. As a partially sighted individual, I have also received multiple glaucoma tubes to help manage the pressure in my eyes. However, after 23 years, these tubes have now begun to cause major complications, like a domino effect.

Shylo has been my steadfast support, driving us back and forth from Montana to California multiple times for my surgeries, as I am unable to drive due to my eyesight. In just 10 weeks, we’ve spent over 100 hours on the road and have lived in hotels throughout November 2024 and again since February 1, 2025.

While we strive to maintain our daily jobs amidst medical appointments, surgery recoveries, and time off without pay, we are also doing our best to keep up with our regular living expenses and bills. The unexpected costs of travel, lodging, meals, and veterinary boarding for our two beloved Chihuahuas, Sweet Pea and Mayple, have placed a significant financial strain on us.
