Brittany is a devoted single mother of three who is facing an overwhelming series of challenges all at once. Her youngest daughter, Emily, who turns four at the end of January, was recently diagnosed with multi-caniosynostosis—a serious condition that requires skull reconstruction surgery. On January 23, Emily will travel to UCSF for her final CT scan before surgery. She is expected to remain hospitalized for five to seven days, followed by an intensive recovery period at home. During this time, Brittany will need to be off work for four to six weeks to provide full-time care for Emily before she is allowed to return to daycare. In addition, Emily will require regular postoperative appointments at UCSF for the first six months, creating ongoing travel and financial strain for the family.

As if this weren't enough, Brittany's van—her only reliable transportation for medical appointments—is experiencing a failing transmission, making it difficult to get Emily to critical care visits. The stress of managing Emily's medical needs, caring for her other children, and worrying about transportation and lost income has been overwhelming for Brittany. She is doing everything she can to keep her family stable and focused on Emily's healing, but the challenges are immense.
