I decided to make this page for my childhood best friend and her family who unfortunately was handed one of the worst medical diagnoses at only the age of 32: Neuroendocrine Cancer.
This is a post that Brittanny shared on her Facebook:
"Feeling sick after eating isn't something that I was unfamiliar with, but for the past 2 years it had become unbearable. Multiple tests had been done. Gallbladder is fine. Crohn's is in remission. I then had an MRI in March which showed an 'enlarging, enhancing pancreatic tail lesion.' I was then sent for an endoscopic ultrasound in April. Biopsies were taken of this lesion, which tested positive as being a neuroendocrine tumor. The mutations in the genes within the tumor were concerning for metastatic progression. Anddd here we are... approaching my surgery date on Thursday to have part of my pancreas and spleen removed. I think I've done very well with putting on a brave face. I'm not fearful for the surgery. I know I'm in good hands, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't afraid of what the future holds. Will this be the end of this difficult chapter in my life and my family's life? Who knows. But I'm asking everyone... if you could please say a few prayers that it will be, I would be beyond appreciative."
Brittanny has been so strong through all of this and has continued to be dealt with rocky patches even after her surgery. She had a successful surgery on July 10th. She spent a week at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh. She was discharged home and developed worsening and concerning pain and symptoms, which resulted in a trip back to Pittsburgh where she was admitted once again for complications of her surgery.
Brittanny's spouse, Joey, has been making trips back and forth along with trying to still work and take care of their 3 children who are 10, 5, and 4. I want to make this stressful time as free of worries as I can for them, so I am asking for contributions for continued travel, medical bills, and help while Brittanny is off of work right now. If you aren't able to donate, I ask that you keep this family in your prayers
After losing a spouse myself from cancer, it sets so close to my heart to help anyone and especially my best friend in this battle. Thank you all for reading and I hope we can reach our goal for them!
