An update from Britta and Ryan: because of your generous donations, additional support from family, and our savings, we have been able to pay off the initial IVF cost! This is HUGE for us and we are so grateful and hopeful!! There are more costs to come, but we feel much more equipped to handle it thanks to the incredible support we’ve received. We will keep the GoFundMe available for a bit longer since we’re still having people reach out about it. While the remaining costs of IVF are still being determined (fertility meds, embryo storage, etc.), if there are any excess funds, they will be used solely for birth costs. Hi! We're Annie and Julia, Britta’s best friends, and it means so much to us to support Britta and Ryan as they walk through their IVF journey. Over the past several years, we’ve had front-row seats witnessing their steady patience while navigating their infertility challenges. Through it all, Britta has continued to show up for others — celebrating their joys and supporting them in their hardships. It feels meaningful to us to now show up for her and Ryan in the same way! Having seen firsthand the love, thoughtfulness, and tenderness they bring to their relationships, we can’t imagine two people more ready or deserving of becoming parents. Easing the financial burden of this process is one way we believe we can support Britta and Ryan. We hope to remind them that they’re surrounded by people who love them and believe in the family they’re working so hard to grow.
Britta and Ryan have been married for almost 8 years, and from their very first date, they bonded over their love for children and dreams for a future family. Standing at 6’2” and 6’6”, they often joke that their children could make up an NBA team. Ryan is finishing his degree as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and Britta is a Marriage and Family Therapist. Both were intentional about choosing careers that would directly benefit their future children’s physical and mental wellbeing as they grow and develop. Personally and professionally, they've done everything they can to prepare to be the best parents they can be.
Unfortunately, their journey to parenthood has been anything but easy, as they have been trying to conceive for the past 5 years. After enduring countless tests and doctors' appointments, they began steps to treat Britta's PCOS, and completed a surgery for Ryan’s bilateral epididymal obstruction. Working closely with fertility specialists, they determined that IVF would be the only viable option to conceive biological children.
Britta and Ryan are hopeful for the future that IVF will bring. However, the process is not without significant financial and emotional cost. They have worked hard to financially prepare for their future ever since they met, diligently saving for a home and the costs of raising a family. However, now that IVF is in the picture, those costs have increased significantly.
As their close friends, we have seen the significant challenges Britta and Ryan have endured to create the future family they desperately want and rightfully deserve. We know they will make the greatest parents, and we want to help them get there. We are asking for help from friends, family, colleagues, and our community to make Britta and Ryan's dreams possible.
