Support Britni's Journey to Recovery

Hello,

My wonderful wife, Britni, is currently in the ICU with liver failure, which has caused her kidneys to stop functioning. She has also gotten a blood infection due to how weak her body is currently. Britni has been feeling tired, a bit confused, and having issues with balance for a while now. We visited a GP as well as a local ER, and both told us there was nothing wrong and she was making it up due to anxiety. Unable to find answers, she continued to slowly get worse. She lost her job a couple of months ago, likely due to how much trouble she was having staying awake and focusing. She is the more educated and experienced out of the two of us, so going without her pay has been a huge challenge to begin with. About a week ago, her eyes and skin began to turn yellow; she was sick all the time and barely eating. On Wednesday, May 7, I took her to a different ER, who quickly identified that her liver was failing. I was told the doctors were unsure if she was going to make it through the first night. She has been in the ICU since then, and I'm told she will likely stay there for another two or three weeks. It is looking like she will need a liver transplant. My son is doing what he can to help keep the house running, but I'm already completely overwhelmed.

I can't even imagine what the medical bills are going to be by the end of this. What I'm currently concerned about is getting our rent and bills paid while she is sick. I can't afford to go without working as the only one bringing in money, but I'm trying to spend every minute I can with her in the ICU. If I could, I would dedicate all my time to being there with her so she isn't going through this alone.

She is such a smart, funny, wonderful person, and I hate seeing her suffer like this. This feels weird to do, but if anyone can offer anything to help us get through all this and maybe even have a bit of money to start paying medical bills, that would be an absolute lifesaver right now. I just want my wife to be able to come home and us still have a home for her to go to. Thanks for reading all this.

Update: Progress for Britni has been back and forth. Last night she was trying to pull the feeding tube and her IVs out again so they had to restrain her. She wasn't aware enough to understand why and was so heartbreakingly upset and confused why I wouldn't help her.
This morning she was much better and I felt like I got to talk to the real her for the first time. She was desperate to get the feeding tube out and be able to eat and drink again. However, this evening she started getting very confused and upset again, and again had to have the restraints put back on her. She is only allowed ice cubes to chew on, however I brought those powder water flavor packs and put a bit on the ice which seemed to make her feel much better since she is missing flavor and food so much. I stayed with her until she fell asleep tonight. I just hope she sleeps through the night until I can get there in the morning.
I don't think she was quite fully aware enough to know how many people have donated to her GoFundMe to help her but she did seem grateful and so happy to see her friends and family step up for her. I can speak for both us of and say we appreciate everyone so so much.
I have a meeting with the transplant team in the morning. They still haven't confirmed she needs one but considering they've been asking a lot of questions about who would take care of her afterward, I'm thinking its very likely.
