Support Bristol Poetry Festival 2020

Lyra is Bristol’s exciting new poetry festival. After a stunning inaugural festival last year, we have a bigger & more radical programme planned for March 13th-22nd 2020.

We are delighted to have confirmed performances from Simon Armitage, Danez Smith and many more nationally and internationally acclaimed poets, and many Bristol poets including Vanessa Kisuule and Rebecca Tantony. Venues for the festival include Arnolfini, Waterstones, St. George's, SS Great Britain, Wills Memorial Building, Square Club, and many fantastic locations around the city.

We're asking for your help to make our festival as diverse and affordable as possible.

We are committed to delivering events, performances, readings, workshops, another fantastic slam, panel discussions, walking tours, family friendly shows and more.

Much of this has already been programmed and is ready to be delivered. But to ensure we can deliver as much as possible, as an independently run and non-funded venture, we’re asking for YOUR help! Any donation will be a huge contribution, not only to this year’s festival but also the growth of Lyra in years to come.

Much of the festival has been organised on a voluntary basis, financed largely through ticket sales. If we are able to raise a little more in advance this will enable us to support the kind of activities we don’t expect to bring in a lot of revenue, which will help to make Lyra as inclusive a festival as we would like it to be.

TARGETS:

£500 - £1000 | This will go towards paying additional artist expenses, so we can deliver a wide, diverse and inclusive range of events and activities.

£1000 - £1500 | This will go towards diversity/outreach work and events, ensuring our city’s communities are reached, represented and included in as many ways as possible.

£1500 - £2000 | This will go towards additional design and marketing, including website, printed material and sponsored posts to ensure the festival reaches as many people from as many different backgrounds and interests as possible.

£2000+ | Anything above our target would go towards additional marketing and outreach needs, covering fees and expenses for admin time of staff (which is largely voluntary for this year’s festival), and towards the inclusion of some additional workshops and participatory events for writers and audience members.

VOLUNTEERING / SPONSORING:

If you're interested in volunteering and supporting in any of the following ways: coordinating events working on particular shows (including setup / door duties), marketing, design, photography and videography, anything else,  please email [email redacted]. Donating your time is also one of the most incredible ways you can support this festival.

Please also get in touch if you'd be interested in sponsoring any of the festival programme or specific events.

Thank you so much for your support of LYRA. We will be doing everything we can to make it the most incredible, radical, entertaining and eclectic festival possible.
