*just wanted to make a note and say THANK YOU so much to everyone for all the generous donations, love, support and prayers everyone has shared with my family thus far. We cannot begin to express our gratitude and what it means to us all. I will be updating below as we move forward. THANK YOU!

Please help in supporting my cousin & their sweet baby Brinley as they have a long journey ahead. As any dollar amount will help them spend every second at her hospital bedside- we also appreciate your prayers at this time.

From Brinleys dad, Brendan;

Well, today Brinley is 11 months old. It’s hard to believe it’s already been almost a year. Unfortunately, we aren’t celebrating in quite the way we would have hoped.

Buster bit Brinley’s cheek completely off her face Tuesday night. I will spare you all the gory pictures. I never imagined picking parts of my child up off the living room floor, throwing them in the freezer, and frantically screaming at EMS on the phone.

Thankfully, they reacted quickly, and Brinley underwent what will likely be the first of many procedures to put her back together Tuesday night at Johns Hopkins. She’s doing well and in good spirits. We aren’t sure how long we will be in the hospital, but please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

  • update #1 from Carolyn, Brinleys mom:
She is slowly weaning off her IV pain medications and she has gotten some of her appetite back. Hopefully we will be heading home in the next few days. She has been amazing through all of this and still dancing her little heart out!

And thank you to everyone for the the support, kind words, thoughts, prayers and donations! We are extremely grateful for all of you. ❤️

  • update#2 from Brendan, Brinleys dad
Brinley got a bath yesterday and has been going on lots of walks, with dance sessions in between. The plastic surgeons are still unsure how much, if any, of the skin that was reattached Tuesday night will survive. We’re keeping our fingers crossed, because any skin that survives is obviously better than none.

The nurse just finished transitioning her off IV medications, and she’s now on oral meds. That’s one more step closer to going home so she can recover from this first procedure and the doctors can evaluate next steps.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, and generous donations to her GoFundMe. You all are truly amazing, and we are beyond grateful

  • update #3

We were discharged from the hospital yesterday after a long five nights, and we are so thankful to finally be home. Brinley is happy to be back with her own toys, crawling all over the house, climbing the stairs, and being waited on hand and foot by mommy and daddy.

Coming home, has been bittersweet. Walking into a house that’s missing a pup was hard and I don’t think it’s really hit us yet to be honest. Buster was my boy. We’re going to miss him so much.

We have a follow-up appointment with the plastic surgery team on Wednesday, where we’re hoping to learn more about the next steps. For now, we’re taking things one day at a time as we wait to learn what comes next.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in, prayed, and supported us through this. It truly means more than we can say.

  • update #4

Brinley had her post op follow up this morning and the doctors were happy with her progress. We aren’t sure when the next procedure will be just yet, but it sounds like it will likely be sooner than later. Thank you for all of your continued prayers! (Brinley requested a stop at Blue Moon Cafe while we were in the area)

We’re heading back to Hopkins tomorrow morning for Brinley’s next procedure. The doctors will be removing the outer layer of her skin to assess how much of the tissue has survived. Once they determine that, they’ll move forward with a skin graft, using skin from her leg.

We’re not sure yet how soon the following procedure will be, but we’re taking this one step at a time. We’re so grateful for all of your continued thoughts and prayers as Brinley takes this next step in her recovery.
