Brieanna's Fight
Hi guys,
In these pictures is my sweet Banana Bug, "Brieanna." Brieanna is 19. She had been complaining of her left foot hurting pretty badly for several months. All of the doctors and hospitals said it was a plantar fascia injury and that she would be fine.
She is, in fact, not ok. After several months of no answers and just being sent away from our local hospitals, I brought her to Children's Mercy in KC, Missouri, on September 1st.
They took us back immediately due to her having a life-threatening bleeding disorder, Von Willebrand Disease. Her blood doesn't clot. They took more pictures and then did an ultrasound to make sure the swelling and bruising of her foot wasn't an active bleed. She was admitted that night. The next day, they did an MRI. That's when we were told she had soft tissue sarcoma in her left foot. She has cancer in her foot. Biopsies have been done. The results came back to either an epithelioid tumor or a rhabdoid tumor. Both are very aggressive. The mass has grown to about a baseball size. It is involved in every part of her foot that it can be. There's no way to successfully remove this tumor and have her keep a functioning foot. The mass is literally killing her foot. It is rearranging everything and pushing on the bones in her foot. There is dead necrotic tissue inside this mass. She will be getting a below-the-knee amputation. Her surgery is October 9th, 2025. To put it into perspective, she was diagnosed on the 2nd of September. It has also tripled in size from the September 2nd MRI to the MRI done this morning, September 30th.
We currently live 4.5 hours away from her specialists and surgeons. We will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House until at least the 15th of October.
With that said, I cannot work. No work means the bills aren't getting paid. I am the sole provider for her. I honestly do not know what to do; this is all happening so fast.
I am asking anyone who can donate to please do so. Things are going to be crazy for the next several months. We will need to stay close to the hospital. I am also her only caretaker and will need to stay at her side through all of this.
The place we are currently living is not medically safe for her. So we will need to move into something that can be modified to fit her needs after the amputation. So the money donated will go directly to her every need, as well as helping me to have enough money to rent a medically safe home for her. This move will likely be permanent. Thank you for reading this. Please pray for my sweet girl and share this as many times as possible.
We really appreciate each and every one of y'all.
Per request from GoFundMe, I have to identify who I am. I am Kimberly Ealum, the mother of Brieanna Ealum. These funds are going to help pay bills and get the things that Brieanna needs. Every single donation helps take care of bills and other things that we need since during this time neither one of us can work. We appreciate every single donation.
