Support Bricelyn's 2nd Battle Against Cancer
Donation protected
Hello, dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
I am reaching out today with a humble heart to ask for your support for my daughter Bricelyn, who is facing her second challenge with cancer. Four years ago, she was diagnosed with myxopapillary ependymoma throughout her whole spine. She underwent surgery and radiation in late 2020-early 2021. Everyone's support through that meant so much to Bricelyn.
She's had a few years managing pain problems and diagnosed with kyphosis, yet she still started college last year at UNC Chapel Hill. She was doing exceptionally well until this summer, when a new lumbar pain began and unfortunately became debilitating by late August.
After a full month in the hospital, she has been diagnosed with high grade osteosarcoma, spinal necrosis and a compression fracture in her L3 vertebrae, likely caused by radiation, and the journey ahead will be difficult to say the least.
She will start 10 weeks of intensive chemotherapy and then undergo major spinal surgery and reconstruction of her spine to resect the tumor sitting in her vertebrae.
Treating this requires medical care that is both extensive and expensive. She will likely spend another few months in the hospital and then endure at least a full year of slow recovery. While insurance is helping, the out of pocket costs are still tremendous and your generosity will help our burden that much more. Every penny will go to the best possible care and treatment for Bricelyn.
With a grateful heart,
Jennifer
