Support Brice Truax's Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
I am Brice Truax, Life Scout from Troop 583, and I am fundraising for my Eagle Project.
I will be creating a flight of steps extending from the base of a very steep hill to the top where the youth begin their descent on a zip-line. Currently, the camp director states that there have been several injuries due to children sliding and causing scraped hands and legs.
I will be leading several groups of volunteers on August 24-25th to create 40 steps and a hand rail, similar to those pictured below, and then installing a post and rope hand hold on the remainder of the hill. Not only will the additions and brush clearing make for a less hazardous and strenuous climb, but they will also guide campers to stay a safe distance from the zip-line when it is operating.
Valley Trails is a non-profit camp that benefits youth groups from the Greater Los Angeles area and a frequent supporter of Scouting. They have also partnered with schools from as far south as North San Diego County and North to Merced to teach 4th grade California History. School-aged children can experience the Old West as well as Native American culture. They also provide local 6th graders with an overnight experience.
My goal of $1,500 will be used to to cover all expenses relating to the project; materials, supplies, food, ETC.
Scout policy is to donate all leftover funds to the benefactor of the project.
Thank you for your support.
