Hello Madeline Island Community, friends, and family of Brian Nelson. This is Marissa Fish, Brian's sister-in-law, starting this GoFundMe on his behalf. Last month, Brian had a fall that led to a dislocated shoulder and caused severely damaged nerves. He had to have an ambulance ride and a special ferry. The shoulder was put back in place but the nerve damage remains and he has extremely limited use of his right arm. The odds of the nerves healing on their own are minimal but there is a surgery - brachial plexus surgery - that could help him. The average cost of this surgery is $35,000 -$39,000 but it can be tens of thousands of dollars more. He will also need an MRI prior to this surgery. Those are thousands of dollars.

Because of this injury, Brian is essentially unable to work. On top of that he is currently uninsured (he's been working on getting insurance but as a mostly self-employed person that can be difficult in our country right now).

We are looking to raise funds for Brian to help meet his living expenses and medical expenses while he heals from this debilitating accident. Anybody who knows Brian is aware he's quite frustrated with his inability to work right now.
