UPDATE ON BRIAN:
Brian has now been at the rehab facility for a few weeks, and while the progress has been slow, it’s still progress — and that means everything to us. Each small step forward is a sign of his strength and determination, even after everything he’s been through. Because the damage from the bilateral strokes was so severe, his care team is now recommending he move to a neurological rehab center — a place better equipped to handle the level of therapy and recovery support he truly needs. But this next step depends on two big unknowns: whether the facility will accept him, and whether our insurance will approve and cover it. If he’s not accepted — or if insurance denies coverage — Brian will have to come home, where he’ll need to be in a wheelchair and require round-the-clock care. It’s a lot. And it’s scary. But we are not giving up on him or his recovery. I’m by his side every single day, and I will continue to be there no matter what lies ahead. We’re still holding on to hope, trusting the process, and pushing forward — one day, one prayer, and one victory at a time.
UPDATE ON BRIAN:
This past month has been one of the hardest we’ve ever faced, and I’ve been waiting to share until we had a clearer picture of what’s ahead. Thank you all for your patience, love, and support.
On July 9th, Brian was admitted to the hospital, and we quickly learned he had two severely bleeding ulcers, caused by the blood thinners he was on. In order to treat the ulcers, the doctors had to take him off the blood thinners — unfortunately, this led to him having a bilateral stroke, one on each side of his brain.
The first week in the hospital was incredibly difficult. Brian was extremely lethargic from the blood loss, spending most of his time either sleeping or drifting in and out of consciousness. Over the past week, however, we’ve seen some improvements. He’s been more awake and alert, but he still has very limited movement in his right arm and leg, and he can barely speak.
There have been good days, where he fights to move and tries to speak, and there have been harder days, when he’s quiet and withdrawn. But despite the ups and downs, he’s been working hard with his physical, speech, and occupational therapists — and he’s been doing amazing given the circumstances.
We just got word that he’ll be discharged from the hospital very soon, either later today or tomorrow morning, and will be moving to a rehab facility where he’ll continue recovery for the next 3–4 weeks.
Brian still has a long road ahead, and so do we — but me and the girls are standing strong with him every step of the way. We’re so grateful for all the prayers and support you’ve given us so far. Please keep them coming — they mean the world to us.
Hi, my name is Danielle, and last Thursday, February 13th, 2025, I had to rush my husband Brian (most of y'all know him from the Crane and Rigging world, FCL and Dagorhir community) to the hospital due to him having extreme pain in his head and the right side of his face. Right before we left to go to the hospital, he lost most of the sight in his left eye. Once at the hospital, we found out he had a minor stroke and a 2 cm tumor on his brain that has caused him to lose vision in his left eye. The doctors have told us he will be out of work for 3-6 months due to his vision and possible brain surgery.
We don't usually ask for help, and making this GoFundMe page is hard on us both, but the welfare of our family is important, and we are very low on funds until we figure things out with all of his doctor's appointments to get him better. If you can help, thank you so much, and if you can't, it's okay, just send prayers. Anything helps!
