Support Brian's Recovery After Motorcycle Accident
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
As you may have heard via my FB post back on August 17th, my brother Brian was involved in a motorcycle accident during a planned motorcycle run for Metro Hope Ministries. Metro Hope is known for its drug and alcohol recovery program serving men, women, and mothers with children. Brian was volunteering his time for this charity as a road guard. Brian and another guy were working together to make sure the bikers could enter and leave establishments safely and to keep them together with traffic flowing smoothly. Unfortunately, there was an accident involving both road guards, one of them being Brian. Brian was hit on his left side by another motorcyclist at about 35-40 mph. Brian was flown by life flight to HCMC, where they immediately did CAT scans and X-rays to determine the extent of his injuries. Thankfully, Brian was NOT critically injured or had major life-threatening injuries. Brian had a dislocated left shoulder (sounds like he will possibly need more imaging to determine tendon or muscle tears) as he cannot lift his shoulder to full range. More tests on that are coming along with possibly surgeries to get him to full range of motion. Brian's left hand was a mess and underwent 4 hours of surgery in the ER at HCMC. They are thinking his left pinky may not make it, and he is currently going through occupational and physical therapy for both shoulder and hand.
Brian's CAT scan showed no bleeding on the brain, but he is experiencing, as you can imagine, concussion symptoms.
Brian has an attorney; however, as you may or may not know, this settlement can take months or years to settle.
Brian currently has a large medical deductible to pay upfront, lost wages due to medical appointments, a bike that is totaled, and unfortunately did not have gap coverage, so he has more to pay out of pocket to cover the loan balance, and of course daily living expenses to make ends meet, groceries, bills, etc. Brian lives alone and supports himself financially, so there is no other wage earner in the home.
Brian is a follower of Christ and attends church on Wednesdays and Sundays. He was giving of his time for fellow bikers and finds passion in riding his motorcycle. Please consider donating to help cover some expenses and if you are unable to give, please share his story. We are so thankful it was not worse, and thanking God he was given another chance at life.
I will post updates as we get them. Thank you, have a blessed day!
