I am sure that most of you know Brian Ferrari and his wife Jenna Rose Madrid-Ferrari, but if you don't here are a few important facts:
After 33 years of friendship and wild adventures, Brian and Jenna were married on August 25th, 2018. They were surrounded by their friends and family when they promised to hold and protect each other through sickness and through health.
On February 6th, 2022, Jenna was in Arizona when she received a phone call that would dramatically shift their lives. Her heart stopped when she heard the voice on the other side of the phone say, "your husband was in an accident." Within a few hours Jenna was on a plane and at the hospital, where she has been every day since.
I'm sure you are asking yourself "What happened?" Brian, was out riding his electric skateboard (with his helmet) and was a victim in an accident. The details of the accident are still being investigated, but we do know that he was found unconscious, on the side of the road for roughly 19 minutes after the accident. Thank you to the person that stopped to help him and called 911.
When paramedics arrived to the scene Brian was immediately placed on life support and care flighted to the hospital in Reno. He was unconscious for 3 days and then placed in a medical coma, with hopes of reducing the swelling in his brain. On February 12th around 4pm, Jenna received news that Brian needed emergency brain surgery. The swelling in his brain was increasing the pressure in his skull and the only option was to remove a piece of his skull. Due to severity of Brian's head injuries and the high-risk surgery, the medical team recommended that Jenna say good-bye to Brian as they did not expect him to make it through this surgery. As he was rushed into surgery Jenna found herself sliding to the ground, crippled by fear, flooded with memories of the past and dreams of their future, her heart was breaking, would she ever see her husband again. . .
It was a miracle that Brian survived the surgery and on March 11th he was well-enough to be transferred out of the ICU. After 33 days in the ICU, Brian was moved to the Neuroscience Unit to monitor his healing process and allow more time for the swelling in his brain to decrease.
Brian is continuing to be monitored closely, as he continues to withdraw from being in a coma and the pressure in his skull decreases. Jenna has been by his side every day; she has been a consistent source of energy, strength and love for Brian. She has felt supported by so many friends and family and is very grateful for the outpour of love (near and far).
In a few weeks, Brian will undergo another major surgery to replace the part of his skull that was removed. After Brian recovers from this surgery, Jenna will be taking Brian to Colorado. Jenna did a lot of research and worked very hard to get Brian accepted into one of the most recognized hospitals and Rehabilitation institutes for traumatic brain injury treatment. When Jenna is not at the hospital she is researching, she is always considering what is best for Brian. When she is at the hospital she can be observed talking to Brian, putting chapstick on his lips, shaving his face, teaching him languages, math, history, science, praying with him, playing the Ukulele, showing him pictures and videos of friends and family, watching jeopardy, reading him books, singing songs with him, engaging in brain stimulating activities, and so much more.
Jenna shows him videos of friends and family (near and far), as she believes this is helpful to his healing and recovery. If you would like to send a short selfie video to Brian so Jenna can play it for him, please contact Daniella or Amy at the following email;

Brian is making progress every day and to provide him with the best care, Brian and Jenna will spend several months at a neurological rehabilitative program. Medical Insurance is covering some of the costs but there are many logistical pieces that insurance will not cover for Rehabilitation as well as the pieces with the medical insurance that will cover most but not all the hospital bills. We are starting with a goal of $500,000 and that will only contribute to the initial phases of their journey. Brian's path to recovery is going to be long and he needs all the love, support, prayers, and positive energy that you can send his way. With the support of family and friends, Brian's wife Jenna continues to remain strong and able to spend her days at the hospital focused on caring for Brian. Her love and patience for him is going to bring him back to us!
Please consider helping Brian and Jenna on this difficult journey. She stands strong next to him through it all every single day, it is admirable and so beautiful. He is fighting hard to come back to us. Please continue to send healing for Brian and strength for Jenna. Thank you to everyone for all the love and light and prayers you have sent and continue to send there way.
