Friends, family, and compassionate strangers, I’m reaching out today on behalf of my childhood best friend, Brian, who is facing an unexpected and life-changing medical crisis. On Friday, November 14th, Brian was simply walking out of a Subway in Isanti when an elderly woman fell in front of him. Without hesitation, because that’s who Brian is, he rushed to help her. In the process, he lifted incorrectly and instantly felt severe back pain. Over the next few days, the pain intensified to the point where he collapsed in his bathroom and had to crawl to his bed, unable to stand. It was the worst pain he had ever experienced.
After multiple appointments, Urgent Care, his chiropractor, and attempts to get an MRI referral through insurance, Brian and his wife, Ruth, made the difficult decision to pay out-of-pocket for an MRI so they could finally get answers. That MRI revealed a mass on his lower spine with a high probability of being Multiple Myeloma (cancer). Brian’s primary care doctor has since confirmed that his symptoms and bloodwork align with this diagnosis. He is now under the care of an oncologist, with his first appointment scheduled for Monday, December 1st.
Brian is in tremendous pain, unable to work, and his business, Fast Repair, is closed until further notice. As many of you know, being an entrepreneur means there is no safety net. Medical bills will be significant, and household income has come to a complete stop. Brian and Ruth are walking into a battle they never expected, and they shouldn’t have to do it alone. We are asking for your support, through donations, shares, and prayers. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the financial burden during this frightening and uncertain time. Brian has always been the first to help others. Now, we have the chance to show up for him. Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your generosity.
