Support Brian's Battle with ALS
Donation protected
The hardest thing in the world, next to watching someone you love to go through hardships, is asking for donations. Some of you have met my brothers, most of you haven’t. We’ve lived 16 hours apart for longer than I like, but our lives make the most sense this way.
My oldest brother, Brian, has always been too smart for his own good. He’s always had the BEST sense of humor, and so witty. While life has never been easy for any of us, the past year has probably been the most emotional.
Coming to terms with losing your brother has been the worst battle I think any of us have fought. Typing that sentence has been one of the first times I’ve admitted the inevitable. This past year he was diagnosed with ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or “Lou Gehrig Disease”. It has progressed, it feels like everything is happening at lightning speed and we will never have enough time to process what is happening.
With it being one of the worst diagnosis’ possible, it’s also one of the most expensive. Patients with ALS incur an average of $92,000 in direct costs and $51,000 in indirect costs. I’m hoping to help lessen the burden and help him live out his time as comfortably as possible.
The only way I have been able to communicate with him is via text, in recent weeks we haven’t been able to do that, he’s lost the ability in his hands now. I’d love to be able to help get him the hardware he needs to communicate, with everything going on I don’t want him to lose that. I want to help them with costs and take a couple more things off their plate. My sister-in-law, Randi, has been an absolute saint making sure he is taken care of, and so has my other brother and his significant other.
I know times are hard for everyone, everything is SO expensive. Our entire family would be beyond grateful for any amount, or even just sharing.
