This past year Brianne was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Primary Biliary Cholangitis, or PBC. She was told this disease usually progresses slowly, but unfortunately her liver did not respond to normal treatment. In May of 2024, Brianne was hospitalized in the intensive care unit with complications related to her PBC and later found out that the disease was progressing much faster than expected. Brianne is now at stage 4 cirrhosis, which is considered complete & permanent liver failure. The only solution to this is a liver transplant. Thankfully, she has matched with a living donor, which gives her the best chance of survival. She will be undergoing a liver transplant in January. Both her and her husband Tom will be unable to work during this time. The transplant surgery will require Brianne and her family to travel to the city in order to get the best care possible. She will then need to recover at home for many weeks. Her devoted husband Tom will be her full time caretaker 24/7.

Brianne's father, Nick, has devoted countless hours to coach and mentor so many kids in Franklin Square for many years. Brianne has followed in his footsteps, and has dedicated her life to caring for others. She continues that role in her career, as she cares for the children at the elementary school she works for in Franklin Square.
