Hello everyone my name is Jason and my wife and mother to my son, Brianna was admitted to the hospital on June 8th for what we thought were full body spasms. They started smaller in her neck/arm and progressively got worse to the point where her whole body would stiffen and if she was standing it would cause her to fall straight back. She had fallen a couple times but the day she decided to go to the hospital was the worse fall, she feel and hit her back on the bed frame and her head on the floor. Thankfully she had no severe injuries from the fall, just a pretty bad bruise on her back. They have ran countless blood tests, done multiple mris, ct scans, eeg along with ekgs’ and the list goes on. She has dealt with neurologists, infectious disease doctor, pathologist, oncologist and a few others as well. On June 12 while doing an mri to figure out what was causing the now full body spasms they found a lesion on the right side of her trachea, which turned out to be a mass. The next day the mass got a little bit bigger so they ordered a biopsy and sent it out for testing. They also did a lumbar puncture to test her spinal fluid. While waiting for the results she ended up having pneumonia and being put on oxygen due to her o2 levels being too low. So they moved her to the ICU. She spent a couple days there then they moved her back up to a normal room on June 17th. What happened next shocked us all. She had a 15 minute seizure and a code blue was called the same day she got moved out of ICU. They rushed her back into ICU where she spent several more days. At this point Brianna is having a very hard time walking and has to do PT & OT daily in the hospital and is currently using a walker and nursing assistance to be able to walk. She went to go to the bathroom and she had a spasm as the nurse was opening the door, she fell straight back and hit her head on the ground cutting her head open, thankfully it wasn’t bad and didn’t need stitches. They took her for another mri to make sure there was no welling of the brain or hemorrhaging. Luckily the mri came back fine. But they found an 8x6mm lesion on her right temporal lobe, in the findings it stated that it could be an artifact- which is a shadow- that could’ve been cause by a small episode she had while getting the mri done, so a rescan was to be done. We got the results back from her spinal tap and was diagnosed with Encephalitis. Her whit blood cell count was high as well so more tests were ran. On June 25th it was Confirmed it indeed is a lesion. On June 27th the biopsy results came back and she was diagnosed with classic Hodgkins lymphoma. We are not aware of the stage yet but she has a pet scan scheduled for July first and meets with the oncologist on July 3rd. Jume 28th she had a port being surgically inserted into her chest for chemo. They are also doing a bone marrow biopsy to check for cancer in the bone marrow blood along with progression/stage along with another lumbar puncture to test the spinal fluid to make sure the lesion in the brain is not cancerous. Due to the unforeseen diagnosis, we have a long road ahead of us with chemotherapy sessions, Doctor visits, prescriptions, co-pays and so much more on top of normal bills, childcare, groceries the money that’s coming in is not enough to cover everything. So we ask for any help that anybody can give to help us through this tough time and even if you can’t donate if you can, please share to help get our story out there. It would mean the world to us. My wife is only 24 years old and a mother to a 16 month old son and we never thought that we would be going through this. We appreciate all the help and support from everyone. Thank you for your time and reading this.
