My name is Brianna Renae and I am a community organizer and spoken word poet born and raised in Portland, Oregon.

In mid-September, I am having an ovarian cystectomy & biopsy. 

I went through this same operation last year. So many wanted to support, but I did not know how to accept it. Last year’s emergency surgery was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to endure. Repeating this surgery with twice the risk is terrifying to say the least. What I wish for most is rest. That is why I am asking for financial support. Self-employed creatives don’t have the luxury of sick leave. I would love to be able to cover my expenses while taking at least a month away from performing and community organizing. Asking for help has always been difficult for me, but true healing is allowing my loving community to support me. Please don’t feel pressured to donate if you are not in a position to do so! Thoughts, prayers, & affirmations are also welcome. I hope to return next month with good results
