Support Briana Day on her journey against cancer.

My name is Briana Jimenez Day, and on Aug. 5, 2024, I underwent emergency surgery for Diverticulitis. During my operation my surgeon noticed abnormalities on my ovaries, fallopian tubes, and colon. Once I was coherent on Aug. 6, 2024, my surgeon informed me that my ovaries and fallopian tubes were removed, and my colon was growing a tumor that had attached to my small bowel. This was devastating news to me and my family. Hearing the word tumor after any operation is agonizing. On Aug. 7, 2024, I was introduced to my oncologist, and was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Receiving this news and all information that comes with it really made my brain go into overdrive. I, along with my family were shocked with the diagnosis. Along with with being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer, I also am now wearing a colostomy bag.

I am humbly asking for help from my family, friends and community. I have already been approved for time off from work. However, this will impact me financially. Dr.'s appointments have already begun. With your help, I will be able to cover traveling expenses including gas & food. Guaranteeing that I'm also able to cover co-pays for dr.'s visits, prescriptions, and supplies orders for my colostomy, and maintaining my insurance coverage. Also ensuring that I will be able to keep my household afloat, utilities, phone bill, rent, etc.

I have received my "Cancer Plan". Although I am still in the process of healing, it is imperative that I receive Chemotherapy. Once my surgeon is satisfied with my healing, I will have to undergo another surgery to have a catheter placed in my chest/neck area where the chemotherapy will be delivered through. My oncologist has let me know that by early to mid September I will start chemo. This plan will begin, and every 2 weeks for the next 6 months I will undergo treatment. I will have to travel to Odessa to get hooked up to a device that I can leave the cancer center with that will deliver chemo for 46 hours. After the 46 hours I will have to travel back to Odessa, be un-hooked and go home. As I stated before this process will continue for me every 2 weeks for the next 6 months.

I truly do appreciate anyone who has taken the time to read about my new and current journey. Please, only donate what you are comfortable with. Any amount is appreciated. Any share of my story is also welcomed. I couldn't do this journey on my own. My husband and our immediate family have been right by me every step of the way and have continued to go above and beyond for me. Who are we without family? I have been remaining strong and trying to keep a positive attitude. I do have my days where I have doubts, and asking "Why me, how does this happen?" I'm only human, but I never stay in that place. I am fighter, I am strong. I have cancer, cancer does not have me. With your help I can continue my fight. Thank you, for taking the time to read, share and donate. Also be on the lookout for other fundraisers that are to come. If anyone would like to reach out to me please feel free to do so, from there I can provide you with my phone number, thanks again. Have a wonderful day.
