Support Brian Smith's Move to Memory Care

I’m Jennifer. Debbie and Brian Smith are my dear friends. I met them a decade ago when Debbie became my Transcendental Meditation teacher. With time, we have become close friends–she’s like a sister to me. Since Brian’s diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, I’ve longed to help them as they face the endless challenges of Brian’s daily health situation. I’ve witnessed the devastating changes to Brian’s bright mind and fit body, and seen Deb search for answers to help Brian. It’s clear their union and capacity for love can never be destroyed.

In June of '22, they moved to Albuquerque, NM to live closer to Deb’s family and Brian’s sister in Denver. Though they enjoyed their beloved community of Fairfield where they met and married; the harsh winters were increasingly difficult for Brian to endure as his illness progressed.

While they both desire to cherish their days living together, Brian’s Jyotish and his primary care physician both advise that Brian will soon need more care than can be provided in the home. He will need to move to memory care/assisted living possibly this October.

Deb and Brian’s love continues to endure and she has done everything in her power to keep Brian by her side. The glimmer of light and positive news is Deb has found a memory care facility nearby where she feels Brian will be well cared for. They have great activities available: music, dancing and gardening--all things Brian loves.

Our goal is to raise $5,400 by 9/29/23 (no amount is too small) to cover the move-in fee and related expenses for Brian to transition to this facility. Thank you for considering helping Brian & Deb!
