Support Brian Miller's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Ryan Miller and I am asking for help as my dad, Brian Miller faces an unexpected battle. These donations will help us with home expenses, and medical expenses.

In October of 2024, my dad was not feeling well and spent about a week in bed. Anyone who knows him - knows this is not like my dad. He is always talking to everyone, full of energy, and working. He spent his entire birthday in bed and stopped eating. The next day he decided to see a doctor. They did some tests and said they would reach out in a few hours. They called us and told him to get to the closest hospital.

He went to Yale New Haven and ended up at St. Raphael’s on October 21st. They did dozens of tests and said he had a very bad life threatening infection. Things seemed to get worse after a few days of antibiotics. On October 28th, we found out he had colon cancer and colitis on top of a serious infection. We celebrated my birthday in the hospital on November 1st. He would spend another three weeks in the hospital losing 40 pounds. He had multiple procedures done to try and resolve the infection. He couldn’t eat or do much of anything at this point. They decided to do surgery on his colon on November 20th to give him a temporary bag.

After the surgery, my dad slowly got back on his feet and gained his weight back. He got back home the day before Thanksgiving. The infection had just about gone away at this point and he was doing well. The second week of December he started chemo and radiation treatments. On December 20th - he started having jaw pain, left arm pain, and chest pain. I got home from work and rushed him to the closest Yale clinic - they said he was having a massive heart attack. He took an ambulance ride to Yale New Haven hospital. They rushed him to the operating room only to find out that he was not having a true heart attack. He had all the symptoms of one, and the EKG was showing it as well. After a three day stay at the hospital they believe he was having a reaction to chemo. He got back home the day before Christmas and cooked a massive meal for my step brother, my girlfriend, and I. On January 18th, he was battling what we thought was a cold. He started to act a little different so I got concerned and brought him to the hospital. He is currently in the hospital fighting rhinovirus, pneumonia, and a blood infection. They believe the blood infection came from a picc line that was placed in his arm back in November. He had nutrition going into the picc line every night and I would administer it. They also drew blood work from the line each week. Although the doctors think the infection is under control, we found out that it spread to his heart, brain, and lungs. They put a drain in his chest for the lungs, then did emergency brain surgery in early February. On February 18th he had major heart surgery to replace infected heart valves. His spirits are high despite the circumstances, and he will continue to fight whatever battles he has to face.

He obviously has a long road ahead of him with cancer treatments and multiple surgeries. I have been doing everything in my power to take care of him on top of paying the bills and keeping his company going. My dad has helped so many people throughout the years. He has always been the type of guy to help someone and ask for zero recognition. He is a tough guy and has a heart of gold. Literally the best dad I could ever ask for and he does not deserve this. He is very prideful and will never ask for help, but it would be great if we can reduce the stress of living expenses and medical bills. I am also asking for prayers because him and I have so much we’d love to do in the future.

Thank you so much!
