Support for the Ellis Family During Brian’s Battle With Cancer

Our community knows Brian Ellis as the person who always shows up — a friend and a former coach who gives endlessly without ever expecting anything in return. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.

Brian was recently diagnosed with Stage III esophageal cancer, and the news has turned life upside down for him, his wife Susan, and their three daughters: Annabelle, a student-athlete at Trevecca; Brianna, a biology major at Austin Peay commuting daily for classes; and Claire, a freshman at Dickson County High School involved in golf and softball.

Brian is the primary source of income for the family. With his upcoming treatment, the family will face significant financial challenges.

Brian will have a couple of months of chemotherapy before he can undergo major surgery to remove the tumor, followed by additional treatment that will continue through the next year. As his condition progresses, he will eventually have to be placed on disability through work, and when that happens, the family will not have the income needed to cover their regular expenses. His health has already declined; eating is difficult, he is weak, and keeping up with work is becoming very difficult. Brian can no longer swallow most foods and becomes sick after eating. Anyone who knows Brian knows how much he loves food.

More than anything, Brian worries about Susan and the girls. He would never ask for help himself, which is why I'm asking on his behalf.

In the months ahead, the Ellis family will face significant medical expenses and reduced income during treatment. Every donation, no matter the amount, will directly support Brian, Susan, and their daughters as they navigate this difficult journey.
