My name is Bret Barnes. I’m posting this for my best friend, actually my, brother since we were in first grade.
On September 21st he was in a near fatal accident on highway 78 and rolled off the cliff only to be stopped by a tree at the bottom of the creek. No alcohol was involved. Most importantly, their lives were saved. They were on their way to my parents’ house to help me take care of my father. Both Brian and the driver Andre were airlifted to the hospital.
If I knew a family man, it would be the man that came to help my family and that’s my brother Brian Bova.
Beside a broken pelvis, seven of his ribs were fractured while sitting shot gun during the roll, additionally two vertebras were fractured as the Tesla rolled three times. To make it worse his right arm has ten screws and a metal plate. True Iron Man.
The worse is what happened to his tricep. Its missing.
After weeks in two different hospitals and health care facilities, his physical therapy is still delayed. A result due to our health care’s slow authorization process. Over $97k for his air lift alone, but he still has over a million worth of positive energy. My mom, a retired RN has been keeping him alive while he patiently waits for wound surgery.
Even half a year from now he will not be able to return to the workforce. Caring people like my mother and father will not be able to continue supporting him.
In the short term he needs financial help to continue purchasing his medication and most importantly keeping his open wound clean, so he doesn’t lose his arm due to this travesty.
In the long term, it will take a while for him to be back into the community he used to serve, but people like me and my parents, and you can help bring him back as a member of our society.
Brian’s and my family cannot wait for anything more than to see him fit, healthy and happy again.
