We want to share an update on Brian and ask for support if you’re able.

On July 3rd, Brian had a golf ball–sized glioblastoma (GBM) brain tumor removed. He has completed standard treatment in the U.S., but GBM has no cure, and with Brian’s tumor type, chemotherapy is often not very effective. Even so, Brian is young, otherwise healthy, and his entire tumor was removed — and he is determined to fight this and be here for a long, full life.

Brian has been accepted into a custom peptide vaccine program in Germany that has shown very promising results over the last 10+ years (study link). Unfortunately, it is not approved or covered by insurance in the U.S., so it must be self-funded. The cost of the vaccine is $92,000, plus travel expenses for multiple trips to Germany over the next year.

Brian is already using every option available, including the Optune device, which helps slow tumor regrowth. He has also already paid $22,000 out of pocket to begin the vaccine process and will need to pay the remaining $70,000 soon to manufacture the vaccine. Travel costs are expected to be $25,000 or more.

Brian is committed to moving forward no matter what. He is using his savings and his retirement funds to make this happen, but this takes a major financial toll — especially after years of supporting two households and knowing that future treatment could impact his ability to work.
