Hi everyone,
I’m starting this fundraiser as I was recently diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). This news has been devasting and while I am facing this challenge with strength and courage, the road ahead is uncertain and overwhelming.
Right now, I am still able to live mostly with independence, but I do require assistance with walking and daily tasks. The medical costs are already adding up—specialist visits, diagnostic testing, and out-of-pocket expenses that insurance doesn’t fully cover.
As anyone who’s faced a serious illness knows, these expenses build quickly and unpredictably. Especially with a disease such as ALS, being that there is only one FDA approved option to treat (Riluzole).
Apparently, my liver can not tolerate Riluzole so I’m faced with choosing off label / experimental options. All of which are very costly.
I am hoping to ease some of that financial stress so I can focus on what really matters: treatment decisions, and making the most of each day with friends and family.
Your support will help with:
Ongoing medical expenses
New Medications and therapies not covered by insurance
Home modifications for ADA compliance
Travel costs to ALS clinics or specialists
Planning for future care needs, any amount—no matter how small—will make a meaningful difference for me and my family. If you’re not in a position to donate, simply sharing this page with others is just as appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion, generosity, and support.
With gratitude,
Brett
UPDATE: 10/17/25
Thank you to everyone who has donated. As an update, I have attached a picture of the orthotics that you have helped me purchase. They assist with my bi-lateral drop foot. They have already made a significant difference and are helping me be more mobile.
Sincerely,
Brett
