I’m a close friend of Kelly and Brett Gerritse, starting this fundraiser on their behalf. Many people have reached out asking how they can help, and this felt like the best way to surround their family with support during an incredibly difficult time.

On April 18, Brett (35), husband of Kelly (Kolich) Gerritse and devoted father of two sweet boys, Colton (7) and Mac (5), was rushed to the emergency room with stroke‑like symptoms. Within 24 hours, he underwent emergency brain surgery to remove a tumor. Shortly after, their world was turned upside down with a diagnosis of Stage 4 metastatic melanoma.

Brett has always been someone who shows up for the people he loves. After spending 7 years playing minor league baseball in the New York Yankees organization, he shifted his focus to what matters most: being an incredible dad. Whether it’s teaching Colton how to throw a pitch with a tennis ball aimed at the front door, grilling in the backyard, or setting up a pool and canopy to create the perfect summer day for his boys, Brett’s world revolves around his family.

Right now, Kelly and Brett are still processing this life‑altering news while focusing on the road ahead. Brett will be undergoing immunotherapy, with radiation likely to follow as part of his treatment plan. Everything has happened so quickly, and this season of life is one they never expected.
