Update 4/1/25 *******
A dear friend of mine suggested I give an update here. People so often ask “Are you home yet?”. Nope! No we are not home yet unfortunately. As most of you are aware our house was flooded almost 8 month ago. It been a total disaster. We stayed with family and friends for a long period of time. Then we had a temporary place to live under 1 roof in September. It was a great temporary solution while we navigated what to do with the house. We lived in this space from September till January. It provided us with some sort of normalcy. In January believe it or not, there was a water main break and a massive flood to our temporary rental. We lost the majority of our belongings yet again. I was told “lightening doesn’t strike twice”. Welp…water seems to find us sadly. We were uprooted yet again. Again staying separately and not under 1 roof now since January. But so very grateful for roofs over our head nonetheless. The expenses have been astronomical. FEMA was never granted by the government. There is a small state grant being award to people affected by this storm that we applied for. We hope we will be finally back HOME in a few short weeks. As with any construction project things morphed and we found other issues with our home in addition to the massive damage the flood caused. I don’t want to say this experience was a blessing in disguise because it’s been a nightmare. However the storm in August that flooded the house caused significant damage and made the house unsafe to live. As they dug deeper and did the demolition there was significant mold in the attic as well as behind our kitchen cabinets and the entire back of the house. The inside of the house was down to the studs. There was no other option. We didn’t bargain for any of this added work. Also I’m pretty sure this house would have made us seriously ill had we not been made aware of what was lurking behind the walls. Thank you for every family member and friend that has helped us through this wild journey and continues to do so. You are all a blessing to us. Say a little prayer we get home this month. And does sage really work to ward off the bad vibes? We will try anything. ❤ xo

Original post August 2024:
This past Monday Suffolk County went in a State of Emergency due to Sunday night's powerful storm, which brought flooding and damage to several parts of Long Island. One of the many families impacted by this devastating storm is my older brother Brett, sister-in-law Jamie, 12-year old nephew Ryder, and family dog Boxer Deebo. The storm caused flooding of their entire house and both cars. They lost furniture, clothes, pretty much all that is needed for a house to become a home. While they are all grateful, that they all survived, the devastating damage has really put a financial strain on their recovery. Additionally, since this is not considered a "Federal Disaster" they cannot receive any assistance from FEMA. As such, I have created this gofundme in hopes that the community could rally behind them and give them some much needed hope and support. Anything that you can spare to donate to them would be greatly appreciated!
