Good day everyone - my name is Andrew DeCosta, and I'm a 54-year-old husband and father of two boys. I am writing this message with a heavy heart. A few years ago, I was blessed to meet a young man by the name of Bresly Gomez Fernandez. Bresly, 31 years old, arrived in Bermuda from Costa Rica, and immediately started his employment with Luxury Cuts, a barber shop owned and operated by Kenton Trott, a local entrepreneur. Kenton sure has an eye for talent, because Bresly is amazing at what he does. He quickly gelled with the other barbers, as if he had been there forever. Working 10 hour days 5-6 days a week, Bresly's clientele from all walks of life, took off. Bresly visits his family annually and talks about them often. When I sit in his chair weekly, you can be sure he mentions his girlfriend Susan, his daughter Samantha and his son Felipe - he lights up and smiles, when he says their names. He sacrifices being away from them, to provide the best life possible for them, and others in his family.
On Wednesday October 14th, 2026, around 9:00pm, Bresly was the victim to an explosion while in his residence, in Southampton. He was quickly rushed to our local hospital where he was attended to. Bresly unfortunately received major burns EVERYWHERE above his waist. I wanted to see him and went to the hospital Thursday afternoon. He was in ICU, resting. What I witnessed, will stick with me for the rest of my life. I spoke, he nodded, acknowledging what he could, without words. I held his hand and told him this will pass and you are going to get better. Bresly was then prepped and sent to John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, that evening, via air ambulance.
Bresly was so close to his dream coming true - he was less than two weeks away, from flying out and returning with his family to Bermuda. Plans were well underway with accommodation, and he even shared that he had recently closed a deal for a secondhand car! In the blink of an eye, all that has changed, and more. My hope is to raise funds to offset his medical costs and give him a start at life again. As you can imagine a fair bit of his personal belongings was also lost in the explosion. Bresly is a vital part of the Luxury Cuts family. During this difficult time, the Company will ensure Breslys current health Insurance is maintained, by covering it 100%. This will enable him to receive the necessary medical treatment, albeit this will not be able to cover the cost for everything. His fellow Barbers need our support more than ever, while they fill this empty void.
Let's get through this difficult time together!
