Our sweet friend, Bre, is facing one of the hardest battles of her life. In late December, she bravely underwent surgery to get a hemangioma tumor removed from her hip. Unfortunately, the tumor that was thought to just be a hemangioma came back as a rare cancer. Bre had to have a second surgery not even a month later to hopefully remove all of the cancer cells, and she also had to travel to Houston, TX, to meet with a doctor specializing in this rare type of cancer. All of her providers agreed on a care plan, and thankfully, the pathology report, repeat scans, and invasive blood tests revealed she was in remission. Bre, her husband Brandon, family, and her friends were overjoyed to hear that great news. To ensure she remained in remission, Bre had to have repeat blood tests and CT/MRI scans from her local doctor in Fort Smith, who collaborated closely with her cancer doctor in Houston, Texas. Unfortunately, recent scans, only 9 months later, have revealed that the cancer has returned—this time more aggressive.

She now has to travel to Houston, Texas, for specialized treatment including chemo and radiation. Her time there receiving treatment will be around 5 months. During this time, her husband, Brandon, will be by her side and at this time he is unable to work. While receiving FMLA, he will not be paid. While they focus on what matters most—her health, cancer treatment, and healing—the regular bills at home, along with mounting medical expenses, continue to add up.

Anyone who knows Bre knows she is a sweet soul who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. She is the kind of person who lights up a room with her kindness and would be there for anyone without hesitation. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her.
