Supporting Brenya's Health Recovery

Hello Friends and Family,

In the evening of June 13, 2024, Brenya stared experiencing severe pain, vomiting, and fever. She went to an emergency room where she was diagnosed with an acute attack of kidney stones, with one measuring a whopping 1.5 centimeters (which is abnormally large), and a bad secondary infection. She had no prior history of kidney issues and water is her favorite drink so this was all very surprising.

Brenya had to stay in the hospital from June 13, 2024 to June 15, 2024, during which stay she had surgery to place a stint in her kidney. She is still out of the hospital as of today (June 17, 2024) and slowly starting to recover, though she is quite sore and fatigued.

Her next surgery is later this week. We hope it will be a quick day surgery, but there are several factors that could mean it's a longer hospital stay.

Because of the surgery and infection, Brenya has missed work. She will also miss more work for the upcoming second surgery.

Brenya is also set to move into a new apartment on or around June 27, 2024, for which leases have already been signed and everything but the move-in date has happened. Of course, missing work and income during a moving period aren't contributing to her being able to relax while healing.

Our family started this fundraiser to see if we can help Brenya with a safety cushion for the income she's already missed and will miss due to this sudden medical emergency. If you know her at all, you know she is a go, go, go person who gets things done and waiting to get better is stressful for her. We're hoping to give her some peace of mind so she can rest and heal more easily.
