Please Help Support a Barn Family on the Road to Recovery

We are reaching out to our community to support someone who has devoted over 30 years to maintaining a safe, working farm environment for horses and equestrians at Dapper Dan Stables.

Brent Bentsen suffered a serious and life-altering accident after a devastating fall from over 40 feet while trimming tree limbs by a paddock in anticipation of a windstorm last month. Brent’s injuries were severe and included multiple bone fractures, internal bleeding, and a concussion. The accident required immediate hospitalization in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Rhode Island Hospital, followed by several weeks of intensive medical care and rehabilitation. Brent underwent one surgery and is also facing additional surgery ahead of him.

While the physical healing continues, the financial impact has been overwhelming. Medical bills in excess of insurance coverage have quickly piled up, and time away from work has made it difficult to keep up with everyday farm maintenance requirements to ensure the horses remain safe and properly cared for.

Brent and his wife, Bethany Monks Bentsen, are known for their tireless work ethic, kindness, and dedication—often putting the needs of the animals and the farm before their own. Now, they need help.
