Honoring Brent – Supporting His Family After His Battle With Cancer

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Brent, who courageously lost his battle with cancer on March 1st. Throughout his journey, Brent showed remarkable strength, resilience, and grace, never losing sight of what mattered most — his family.

Brent was an incredible father and a true role model. He led by example, teaching those around him the values of love, integrity, and perseverance. His devotion to his children and the way he showed up for his family will forever be part of his legacy.

As the family grieves this devastating loss, they are also facing the unexpected financial burden of funeral arrangements and necessary travel. During a time when they should be focused on honoring Brent’s life and supporting one another, these expenses add an additional layer of stress.

This GoFundMe has been created to help ease that burden and support Brent’s family with funeral and travel costs. Any contribution, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated and will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your compassion, kindness, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

This beautifully written memorial is from Karen. There’s tons of good memories but this is a baseline of who Brent was.

Memorial Tribute for Brent Evan Salter

Brent Evan Salter was born on October 27, 1955, and he passed away on March 1, 2026, at 70 years old.

Brent was raised in Porterville, California. Family shaped him early, and family remained central to his heart throughout his life.

He loved his father, LeRoy.
He loved his mother, Mary Ann.
He loved his stepmother, Janice.
He loved his stepfather, John Gobel.
He loved his grandparents, Harold and Emma Austin.
He loved his sister, Lynne.
And he dearly loved his brother, Steven.

He loved riding Harley’s with his brother and sons.

He was an accomplished musician .

Brent married Eva in 1975, and together they welcomed a son, Jacob. Brent loved Jacob deeply.

In 1979, Brent married Karen, and they were together for 26 years. Together they had three sons:
Jon, Marc, and Layne.

Brent loved his sons — Jacob, Jon, Marc, and Layne. He was proud of them. He wanted them to love Jehovah. He wanted them to be strong and faithful. Being a father meant everything to him.

Brent loved being a grandfather.

His grandchildren are:
Ocean, Britney, Preslie, Emma, Mia, Evanny, Isla, and Lainey.

His great-grandchildren are:
Mia and Jeremiah.

He loved watching the family grow. He loved seeing the next generation. He loved everyone — and anyone who came into his life became family to him. He had many friends, and many of them have been reaching out, expressing how much they cared about him and how deeply he will be missed.

Above all, Brent loved Jehovah.

He served as a ministerial servant. He pioneered for ten years. He attended Pioneer School. He served where the need was greater. He structured his life around spiritual goals.

When he visited Bethel in New York on March 31, 1986, it deeply strengthened his faith. He was so moved that he created a slide presentation of the visit and shared it with others. When something strengthened Brent spiritually, he wanted to share it.

He taught many people about Jehovah. He witnessed wherever he went. There are people serving Jehovah today because Brent took the time to teach them.

Brent was a hard worker. He took responsibility seriously. He tried his best.

His life was not without sorrow.

He lost his father, LeRoy.
He lost his mother, Mary Ann.
And he lost his son, Marc.

Those losses brought deep grief. Brent carried pain in his heart. There were crises and hardships. But through everything, he always wanted to serve Jehovah. He kept trying. He wanted Jehovah’s forgiveness and approval.

In one of his final conversations, he asked for prayers. He asked that Jehovah forgive him for anything he had done. That humility reveals his heart.

Brent loved Jehovah.
He loved his family.
He loved everyone.

And so while we feel sadness today, we also hold onto a powerful promise from God’s Word.

Hebrews 6:10 tells us:

“For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name.”

Brent showed love for Jehovah’s name.
He worked hard in Jehovah’s service.
He taught others.
He tried his best.

Jehovah does not forget that.

So although we grieve, we are confident of this: Brent is in Jehovah’s memory — and Jehovah never forgets the love shown for His name.

And that gives us hope. That hope of seeing Brent happy and healthy and serving the father he loved,
Jehovah .
