On May 26, a resident of our community was hit by a car in West Milford. His name is Brendan Coscia. He was taken to St. Joseph's hospital where he remains in the Pediatric ICU with severe brain trauma. Currently, Brendan is in a medically induced coma to reduce any agitation in his brain. He has a brain bleed, swelling, and a lateral skull fracture. He also has facial lacerations. He will remain in a coma for at least the next few days to keep the intracranial pressure down which will allow the brain to begin the healing process.
As we all know, even the best insurance coverage doesn't cover all of the emergency and hospital bills and it's not just the bills and co-pays, it's gas to and from the hospital and the hospital also charges for parking. This alone is difficult for any family to absorb. The miracle of prayer has already been so helpful and we ask that you continue to keep Brendan and his family in your prayers.
Let me tell you about Brendan and the family. Brendan is a 12-year-old full of life and laughter. He takes his schoolwork seriously and has a passion for lacrosse. He is on the 7th-grade Junior Highlanders lacrosse team and plays up on the 8th-grade team as well. When he is not playing lacrosse, Brendan is usually with his close group of friends on the turf or spending time with his family.
Brendan has too many friends to count as he is loved by all who meet him. Brendan is compassionate and kind. He is adventurous and loves biking, swimming, water tubing, and exploring the outdoors. He is very creative and loves building anything and creating inventions.
Brendan's family is amazing and is always helping out their neighbors and community, whether it is mowing their neighbors' lawns or volunteering at the food pantry. Now we are asking that the community please consider giving back to the Coscia family.
We are collecting donations for the family to help them overcome this difficult time. Even the littlest contribution would be most helpful. Money will be used for uncovered medical bills, gas, food, hospital parking, and future bills for Brendan's treatment and rehabilitation.
For those who prefer to donate by check or donate a gift card (Shoprite, gas cards, local restaurants, Au Bon Pain (cafe in St. Josephs Hospital)), please mail them to:
