Recently, I fell behind on my car payments while trying to juggle the cost of materials for school, rent, and other essential bills. Despite working as much as I can between classes, I couldn't keep up with everything. My car was repossessed, and now I'm facing $2,195 in past-due payments plus $400 in towing and storage fees - a total of $2,595.
Why Finishing My Program Matters:
I'm so close to completing my web development program - something I've worked incredibly hard for. This isn't just about getting a degree; it's about completely changing my life trajectory. Web developers can earn $50,000-$80,000+ starting out, which would allow me to finally achieve financial stability and never be in this position again.
But right now, I'm at risk of losing everything I've worked toward. Without my car, I can't:
Get to campus for classes and labs
Attend networking events and career fairs that are crucial for job placement
Make it to potential interviews or internship opportunities
Work my rideshare job to pay for tuition and living expenses
I've invested so much time, energy, and money into this program. I'm not asking for help to avoid responsibility - I'm asking for help to finish what I started so I can build a career that will allow me to support myself and eventually help others in similar situations.
What Happens If I Get My Car Back:
The moment I get my car back, I can return to work and finish my final semester/months of the program. I'll be able to attend job fairs, complete my coursework, and start applying for junior developer positions. This is truly a hand up, not a handout - I just need help breaking this cycle so I can reach the finish line.
Every dollar brings me closer to getting back on track and completing the education that will change my life.
