Hi everyone, I’m Bree, and this is my son Skyler (Sky). He is on the autism spectrum, and together we started BreeSky’s Quesadillas, a mom-and-son business that’s about more than just food. Sky is at the heart of everything I do, and this business is as much about him as it is about me.

Before this, I planned to become a nurse. I graduated with honors, earned two associate degrees, and was ready to apply to nursing school. But Skyler was being bullied, and his well-being came first. I paused my education, moved us out of Los Angeles, and got our own place in Orange County so he could have a fresh start. He is now a freshman in high school, attending a charter school, and just started his first college class. I’m incredibly proud of him.

Living on my own is expensive, so I started this stand as a way to support us while still being present for Sky. I’ve always loved to cook, and seeing people enjoy our food has made this a true passion.

Skyler works as our cashier. He wants to be a game developer one day, and having him at the stand gives him a chance to practice social skills, communication, and math in a safe, supportive environment. He wasn’t very verbal when he was younger, and it wasn’t until around age 9 or 10 that he began communicating more effectively. Every greeting, every transaction, every conversation helps him build confidence, independence, and belief in himself. This isn’t just a job — it’s a space for him to grow.

I work seven days a week — a full-time job during the week, our stand in Koreatown on Saturdays, and pop-ups in Santa Ana on Sundays. In the beginning, we were selling just three plates a day. Slowly, with consistency and community support, we began to grow.

We’ve outgrown our single car, and our tables, equipment, and supplies no longer fit, so we now rent a U-Haul for every event. Those rental costs take a big portion of what we earn. To continue growing and serving more locations, we need a reliable work van.

We are raising funds to purchase a work van so we can stop renting U-Hauls, continue growing our small business, and keep creating opportunities for Sky.

If you’re able to donate or simply share our story, we are truly grateful. Right now, we’re working hard to get by with our stand while building something meaningful together.

With gratitude,
Bree
