**7/22/24 Update**
Bree will be discharged soon from the hospital, she cannot speak, walk, move or eat on her own. She has a trach and a feeding tube, she will need 24 hour care in which her Dad and I will provide. We are trying to figure out how much of our insurance will cover for a custom built wheelchair as it will need to be reclined since she can’t hold herself up and we will need a wheelchair accessible van in order to transport her to and from all her doctors appointments. We greatly appreciate if you can please share even if you cannot donate, thank you.
Hello everyone my name is Liza Gonzales, my husband is Alonzo Gonzales. On Thursday June 6, 2024 at approximately 4:45am we received a call that no parent should wake up to, our 16 year old daughter Bree was shot multiple times close range with an AR style weapon. When she got to DMC she had already lost a large amount of blood and was essentially in shock. We didn’t know the severity of her injuries, we initially thought she had just gotten shot in her foot but once at the hospital we were able to find out it had been multiple times that she had been shot. She completely lost a main artery in her leg so she had to be medi-flighted out of town to a hospital that specializes in vascular surgeries. By the time she left Modesto she had already needed several units of blood. Doctors were able to repair her artery and leg fully but once she was in recovery she developed some type of infection and wasn’t able to wake up, Bree stopped responding and several Ct scans showed she had severe brain swelling and pressure in her head. Drs have been trying to release the pressure and reduce swelling but nothing has worked. She is now in a coma and we do not know what her outcome will be. Suspect was arrested that same night of the shooting and drs believe highly at some point that night that Bree was strangled by the suspect, we are making this gofundme to help us with medical expenses, transportation, room and boarding, bills, essential supplies and any medical equipment Bree may need once she gets to come home to us. My husband and I have been by Bree’s side since this all has happened and we are not losing hope that Bree will get to come home to us even if she needs 24 hour care. We will never leave her, we want to thank everyone for the love and the support you have all showed us.
