Help Bree, Gray, and Mekare Get back on their feet
$535 raised of $1K
UPDATE: Bree is home. We’re incredibly relieved to have her back, but the unexpected costs of getting her home are still affecting us.
Bree was pulled over and arrested in Greenville, SC. During the arrest, she was verbally threatened with violence while visibly upset and asking why she was being pulled over and arrested. The handcuffs caused noticeable pain in her right hand, and she’s worried it may be nerve damage.
As a trans woman, getting Bree safely out of South Carolina was an immediate priority for us. We needed to get her home, and we had to figure out the costs as we went.
Getting Bree home meant coming up with money for bail and dealing with her impounded car. Because she was arrested while holding the moving truck key, the truck couldn’t be returned on time, which added another day and more costs.
We’re now struggling to cover bills, groceries, gas, and supplies for our cats. We’re in the negative and trying to recover from the costs that came with an already difficult situation.
