On May 26th I will be cycling Ride London/Essex 60 for two amazing charities, both embedded in my work place & with a focus on traumatic injury. Each provides fantastic resources for children, young adults and their families. These are resources that would otherwise be unavailable, as each young person embraces a life journey of recovery/rehabilitation.

The first charity is the CHILD BRAIN INJURY TRUST (CBIT). This charity supports families and professionals in the care of a child or young person in the aftermath of an acquired brain injury. The lives of families can change overnight when their child sustains a brain injury. The support that CBIT provides is adapted to need, and is crucial for families when they have nowhere to turn in a time of huge and sometimes devastating transformation.

My second charity is the ST GILES TRUST. A fantastic group of individuals who use expertise and past life experience to empower children and young adults to “turn a past into a future”. Often these children/young persons are hard to engage, as life has failed them through poverty, exploitation, abuse, crime. Without direction, they can get caught up in anti social activities, often sustaining serious, life threatening injuries in the process. Their St Giles mentors, who have often successfully turned their own lives around, are invaluable in guiding these young people towards brighter, safer futures.

Both of these charities have powerful roles in building the future lives of children and young adults. We request their support on a daily basis to guide us in pathways of successful recovery. They can only do it with your support, no matter how small that may be.
