Hi! We are a group of senior television students at Hofstra University making our senior capstone project, Break The Stage!

Break The Stage is a live hip-hop dance competition show inspired by the raw, spontaneous dance battles that took over New York City in the 90s and still to this day. We aim to shine a spotlight on hip-hop and its subgenres by giving it a space in the advanced student/pre-professional television world.

Four crews of young, talented dancers will go head to head across three electrifying rounds, judged by three industry professionals and voted on by a live audience. By the end, one crew will officially break the stage (and people's minds) while taking home their winnings.

At its core, Break The Stage is about fun, community, and uplifting the next generation of dancers, all brought to life by the passionate next generation of television professionals. We care deeply about preserving dance culture, especially with the lack of current shows amplifying hip hop.
