Hi! My name is Bread, and I’m a proud trans, disabled, neurodivergent EMT and mutual aid activist. I’m reaching out to my community for support as I navigate a challenging recovery and a critical transition.
In late 2023, I was diagnosed with Axial/Peripheral Seronegative Spondyloarthritis—a chronic autoimmune condition that has profoundly impacted my life. I experienced a severe flare-up that left me bedridden for 7 months, during which I faced malnutrition, anemia, and significant weight loss. Thanks to ongoing treatment and support, I am slowly regaining my strength, but the road to full health and stability is still ahead.
While I’ve been declared partially disabled by the state, I do not qualify for social security benefits, leaving me in a precarious financial situation. Currently, I am facing the threat of homelessness, which is deeply destabilizing and makes my recovery and future goals even more difficult.
I love living in Salida, Colorado—a vibrant community that has become my home and a place where I hope to continue contributing as an activist and healthcare professional. I’ve found a potential housing opportunity here, but it requires first month’s rent by June 1st. Additionally, I need to secure a small storage unit temporarily, handle upcoming car insurance payments, and cover basic living expenses while I work towards returning to work as an EMT.
I am grateful for any support you can offer—whether it’s a donation, sharing my story, or simply sending positive energy. Your help will go directly toward securing stable housing, covering essential bills, and supporting my ongoing health journey.
Thank you for believing in my resilience and my ability to rebuild. Together, we can help me stay in my community and continue fighting for health, justice, and equality.
With gratitude, love, and solidarity,
- Bread
