Hi my name is Bre and I am a Family Nurse Practitioner who has been in healthcare caring for others for 18 years. February 2020, after many years of struggling to find answers, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when I nearly went blind due to optic neuritis (lesion compressing my optic nerve). Later in February 2024, my youngest had bilateral ophthalmic reconstructive surgery to save her vision before the age of 2. One month later, my oldest, 7 years old at the time, was diagnosed with epilepsy. After significant amounts of stress, my disease progressed to secondary progressive multiple sclerosis causing a wide variety of debilitating symptoms, with 27 lesions and 15 black holes on my brain, as well as 11 lesions on my cervical spine, thus keeping me out of work on unpaid medical leave multiple times. As of recent, I was unemployed on unpaid FLMA from November to February 2026. This was a major setback financially for me and my children as I am also a single mother with no additional sources of income. My youngest is now almost 3 and just had reconstructive surgery again. My oldest, 9 years old, also had surgery to correct ear deformities from injuries to prevent bullying from what is now a new diagnosis of connective tissue disorder and has to have further work up not likely covered by insurance. Recently, I accepted a position with the VA and was excited to finally start after months of credentialing for my nurse practitioner license. On April 9th, 2026, I received a call that the position was no longer needed. This left me at, "what do I do now". It has been tough battling this disease alone, but it is mostly not fair to my children. Now I am without a job, struggling with medical bills, accumulated debt, and even daily living necessities for me and my children. I am starting this fundraiser in hopes of relieving financial stress as I am looking at losing my home and all the things I worked so hard for over the years working in healthcare taking care of others. Now I need the help. Thank you to those who have already donated. And to those that are able to assist, I am forever grateful for your help. Your donations would lift so much weighted stress & potential progression. Thank you, again. <3
