Support Brayden's Road to Recovery

The Yellowjackets and Stingers Hockey Clubs have launched this GoFundMe to help ease the burden of medical expenses and everyday costs for the Quiros family as they focus on Brayden’s recovery.

In true hockey family fashion, let’s rally around them with the same strength, compassion, and unity we bring to the rink.

While on a fishing trip with his Dad and Grandpa in Canada, Brayden was severely injured in a boating accident. Brayden sustained life threatening lacerations from the boat’s propeller. A good samaritan fisherman was nearby (thankfully!) and was able to provide life-saving first aid to our sweet B. He underwent emergency surgery to clean his wounds and assess the damage. Thankfully, he was then stable and awake. However, the next challenge of his recovery journey began- getting B home to the US. Luckily, B has some amazing parents, grandparents, hockey family, and friends that were able to come together and bring him home (no small feat!). The Quiros family was required to pay their bill in full before they could leave the hospital in Canada. Figuring out how to cover that much money in a very short amount of time is something no parents should have to endure while trying to advocate for their child’s significant medical needs. On Thursday July 24th, Brayden was released from the hospital and they began their journey home. They had to drive five hours to get to the Duluth, MN airport. Two Lutheran General Hospital nurses are meeting them at the airport and will fly home with them to Chicago. From there, B will be transported via ambulance to LGH. While getting B to LGH is a HUGE milestone, he still has a long road ahead of recovery and medical expenses. We also cannot forget our little Benny who has been home missing his family dearly. He has been so brave throughout everything!

If you are lucky enough to know the Quiros family, you know they are the most caring, generous and genuinely good people around. They would give their shirt off their backs to strangers but are slow to accept any help for themselves. In fact, they repeatedly declined MANY offers to set up this go fund me until Brayden’s hockey club made the decision to do it anyways. :) Any donation collected will go to help with their already high medical expenses and everyday costs.
