Today has been a heartbreaking day here at Riverside Subs. We are beyond devastated. Around 1:30 this afternoon I received a call from Brayden, one of our long time employees and someone who has truly become part of our family. He told me his mom had called him saying there was a fire at their east prospect home. In that moment nothing was clear, but I told him to leave immediately and get to his family.
As Brayden continued updating me, the reality started to sink in. An electrical fire started in his bedroom and completely destroyed everything he owned. The entire side of the home is gone. Smoke has filled the whole house. It is not livable. Everything he worked so hard for at Riverside Subs, everything he was building for himself, is gone.
To make the situation even harder, Brayden and his mom Amber run a cat rescue called Creatures Connection. They tragically lost several cats in the fire and are now desperately looking for immediate fosters or anyone interested in adopting. If you or someone you know can foster or adopt a cat for a small fee, please message our Riverside Subs Facebook page and we will connect you directly.
Brayden and his family are working with the Red Cross, but they lost absolutely everything. Brayden needs clothes, a bed, pants, shirts, pillows, blankets, sheet sets, and basic essentials. He even lost his PlayStation 5 and the subwoofers he spent months saving up for. The heartbreak is unimaginable.
We are setting a goal to raise ten thousand dollars to help Brayden and his family start rebuilding their lives. Yes, they have renters insurance, but it will not come close to covering the total loss they suffered today.
Donations of clothing and household items can be dropped off directly at Riverside Subs. If you would like to help financially, we will share the link shortly.
Please keep Brayden, Amber, and their entire family in your thoughts tonight. They are going through something no family should ever have to face, and we are going to stand by them every step of the way.
