Hello! I’d like to introduce you to Branson and Cupid. These two boys came into my life when I needed them most. They’ve both had a pretty tough go of it lately. Branson is my FIP warrior. He survived the disease earlier this year after completing 3.5 months of treatment followed by 3 additional months of observation. He was considered “all clear” in June of this year.
Cupid, my little guy who has feline PICA, begins our recent journey into illness. In September, Cupid ingested a shoelace that was removed via abdominal surgery on 9/15. His recovery was complicated by a surgical site infection, but he made it through. A month later, both Branson and Cupid came down with something that progressed quickly. We went into our local vet, where diagnostics showed Cupid needed urgent transfer for emergency hospitalization. Imaging showed that he ingested another foreign body. This time, it was able to be removed through an endoscopy later that day. However, Cupid has yet to show improvement. He’s had a persistent fever of 105°, lethargy, and he hasn’t eaten a meal in a very long time.
At the same time, Branson was also going further downhill. Both boys have spent the last week in and out of the hospital for emergency overnight care and diagnostics. Their fevers have been uncontrolled and dangerously high. Treatment has consisted of fluids, meds, imaging, lab work, and syringe feeding. Cupid is currently hospitalized while I write this, and the only reason Branson isn’t hospitalized is because I can no longer afford to have him there. The internal medicine doctor and the critical care doctor are leaning towards both boys having FIP, but the final test is pending for both. If whatever they have going on isn’t FIP, more testing and work up will be needed, which I can no longer do for them on my own. They are both very sick and neither are showing signs of improvement.
If there is anything you could give to support these two boys, I’d be forever grateful. I’ve given them all I have, but unfortunately it isn’t enough. I do not want to lose them. They are the sweetest, kindest, goofiest, playful boys you’ll ever meet. I don’t have much in my life worth living for, but these two kitties are two souls I do live for. We’ve come so far and I know they have more fight left in them if I can find a way to financially support them. I do not want to give up on them. It’s not easy for me to ask for donations, but I know I’d never forgive myself if I lose them and didn’t try everything I could to give them more time to fight whatever this is.
Please share this with your friends and family. Thank you all ❤️
